For Languages Night, we organised outside catering and held the event at the school. This year, I really wanted the night to be a relaxed but fun night, so I had an idea to include a Kahoot Quiz activity and to win some prizes. It was very successful. I believe approximately 80-100 people came as we only had chairs enough for 80 out. I also invited Heads of School to come on the night as well.
Students dressed up for the night or wore formal uniform; Indonesian students wore batik, blangkon or sarung provided by me, or French beret/French flag colours etc.
Indonesian students and then French students performed a musical number. This year I chose "Baik Baik Saja" which is a parody by Coffs Harbour SC, Jonathon Petersen kindly shared with myself and many other teachers. It was very successful because the tune was catchy, relate-able to the parents' generation as well as covering all aspects of language we had learned in the Indonesian course for the past 2 years. We also didn't have to be musically talented to ensure we stayed in tune, as long as we were LOUD, we sounded great!

Students had prepared a roleplay in class of a customer ordering from a waiter. Students acted as waiters for their parents, and the parents had to perform the roleplay with them. The aim was for us teachers to circulate and informally mark the students on their performance, but it proved to be difficult to get through it all within the set amount of time.
Towards the end of the night, I had set up a Kahoot Quiz with general knowledge about the countries, as well as some basic information about how languages benefits brains; only 15 questions altogether.
I sent out a survey using Survey Monkey and only 16 parents replied, but it was very useful feedback as it provided some data which really made me think!
