I am using 360 Free Warmers for ideas, and adjusting them to my circumstances, to make all students more accountable, and put some effort in.
Today's Warm Up Activity: Who am I?
Approximately 10-15 minutes.
- Students write name of celebrity/famous person on small scrap piece of paper. Redistribute.
- Student will pretend to be the character, and will answer questions pertaining to the character.
- Brainstorm possible questions to help work out what the character is.
- Students walk in organised chaos around the classroom while music is on. I like "Diam-diam suka" by Cherrybelle, because it's so chirpy and catchy.
- When music is stopped, they must move to the closest person.
- Alternating question asking to work out who the other person is.
I liked this activity, because it gave students choice, and was basic so all students understood
the task. They were able to revise on prior language, and it's primary focus was "language use". Students did not have notes, and managed with what they brainstormed on the board. I participated as well because
It would have worked even better if my laptop timer was working today to increase "urgency" for the students.
To extend and make it more interesting when re-using this warm up activity, next time have them answer differing questions pretending to be the character such as:
"Bagaimana liburan?"
